Sunbury Neighbourhood Association

Thank you for the opportunity to present my views on improving the quality of life for the residents of the Annieville and Sunbury neighbourhoods by addressing the most pressing issue of traffic.

I am a life long Delta resident having lived in all three parts of our community.  My family and I lived in the Annieville neighbourhood for nine years and I understand the impact of heavy truck traffic and commuter traffic on residential roads.  Every resident of Delta deserves to live in a safe, livable community.

While I support the Gateway Program and its goals of improving the quality of life in communities by keeping regional traffic of residential roads, I have concerns and many unanswered questions about the final S.F. Perimeter Rd. alignment. I am sure the residents do as well.

I would like to know how the human health issues of air quality and noise will be addressed.  Will the environment be destroyed so that habitat is lost forever?  How will the historic Glenrose Cannery be spared from harm? What about the heritage homes along River Road?  All these issues must be addressed in full consultation with all three parts of our communities to determine the best alignment and minimize the impact to the neighbourhoods

I have heard the views of the Sunbury Neighbourhood Association and support your alternative options contained in the presentation made to Delta Council May 30th, 2005.  I will work with the community to ensure that other levels of government will hear and act in your best interests.

I appreciate the hard work and the time commitment that the Sunbury Neighbourhood Association invested for the benefit of residents in your neighbourhoods.

I ask for your support to continue to represent your views and find real solutions to preserve our unique community. My goal is to keep our community livable and I will work with you to keep it that way.

Again, thank you for the opportunity to present my views,

Krista Engelland
